This morning I woke up to temps around 45 degrees. For me, it was somewhat chilly!!!
Today, was an absolute blast!!! This morning included more work on the shower house. After lunch, a group of us left to go down to the river. We stopped on the trail where the old campsite used to be 2 years ago. The grass is now overgrown and the mud huts are deteriorating. But the bathroom and the shower still stand. So much has changed in the past 2 years!!!
After lunch, I planned on hanging back and taking pictures of the Ladies and the Pastor's. Someone also recommended that I just stay back and help the ladies. I didn't want to abandon my post at the shower house. Well, needless to say, I was used for consulation for the ladies. Someone from the Iowa team had brought brownie mix and cake mix for his wife's birthday. Thursday night was the night we were going to celebrate the birthday. Only problem, the ladies were not sure how to make the cake. So, I helped make birthday cake all Thursday afternoon. The ladies LOVED the batter and the icing.
(Just remember, they don't have stoves like we do here in the USA. We used charcoal on the bottom with a kettle on top, a pie tin in the kettle, with the lid on it with charcoal on top.)
That evening, I was getting ready to eat dinner, but I was called over to cut the cake. I only cut myself one time...oops... Anyway, I'm an instigator!!! I had only met Mary Ann 5 days before. I wanted this to be awesome!! I had all of the Iowa team come over carrying her cake and sing to her. It was AMAZING!! I thought it was an amazing birthday!!
After the birthday cake, it was on to the service where the American's were in charge. Several songs and testimonies later found the USA team washing the feet of the Zambian Pastor's and the ladies. One of the verses that was used most of the week was Romans 10:15 "And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"
It was an AMAZING day!!!
