The 2012 Graduates...

Wednesday, May 8, 2013

Today we headed into Lusaka, picking up the 2012 graduates on our way.  We started off with James S., Luka, Chimbaza, Justin, and Gideon.  As we headed to our next stop in Chongwe, the bus was filled with singing.  In Chongwe, we added James M. and Moses to our number.  I got to sit with Moses and catch up with him on the ministry that he and James M. are involved with in Chongwe.  They are working with a feeding program with Stephen and Aby Nelms (Give Life).

We were off to Lusaka to meet up with the rest of the guys.  Our group made it to Arcades and joined Sandwell, Big Isaac, Little Isaac, Clarence, and Joshua.  For me, it was so good to see everyone together.  For the graduates, this was the first time they had been together since January.  Little Isaac and Clarence had to travel the furthest.  They are currently located in Kabwe (about 1 hour by car on the other side of Lusaka).  Even though these guys are currently sponsored, it is still very difficult for them to afford the trip to Lusaka to get together.  Several see each other daily, but for those who are not at the college on staff, in Chongwe or in Lusaka, it is very difficult to afford the bus ticket to get anywhere.  The guys thoroughly enjoyed being together again!  It was so much fun being a part of this reunion!

So, why this was such a big deal?  Today is when the graduates received their yearbooks.  They have been so eager to get these books!  These books are a compilation of the last four years of their life at IBCZ.  These guys lived together and spent most of their time together.  It was a pleasure to be able to give this gift to these guys who worked so hard to achieve their goal of graduation.
Eagerly waiting to receive their yearbooks
