Today is a bittersweet day!!
This morning, we spent time at an orphanage sharing with them. They, in turn, shared with us the realities of being orphaned. So many children are orphaned because of AIDS and other illnesses. Many have become double-orphans (both parents have died). So many are also single-orphans (one parent has died). In any event, these kids will struggle growing up. We were able to shower numerous gifts on them. Candy, stuffed animals, airplanes, candy, chalk, toys, clothing, etc. We were also able to provide the orphanage with food and a monetary donation.
This afternoon brought our time to a close in Zambia. We were headed back to the USA. A very long and drawn out plane ride. 5 hours to Ethiopia and then 15 to Washington DC, with a small stop in Rome for fuel.
