Well, today is the day we leave for Zambia. There are 8 people from Groveland going. This will be the 3rd time for 2 of us. It will be the 2nd time for 2 of us, and the others are newbies. Our plans today will be to travel to Washington D.C. and spend the day there. Our flight for Africa doesn't leave until later this evening.
In Washington, we had a chance to see the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, World War II Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, the White House, Capitol Building and take a picture with Bob Dole. Lots of walking in 90+ degree heat. But it was good to see it after 17 years.
After our quick tour of Washington D.C., we headed back to the airport to wait for our flight. We met one of the other teams that was going to Zambia as well. The Iowa team consisted of 13 members. 2 with experience, and the rest newbies. It should be a fun trip!!
