Today was spent on a very long flight to Ethiopia. One highlight was a stop in Rome for fuel...don't worry, we didn't get off the plane. When we got to Ethiopia, there was confusion as to where to go and what documents we needed, but eventually we made it to our hotel.
The drive through Addis Ababa was quite unique at night. There were lots of little shacks all over the place with lots of people settling in for the night on the streets. Our hotel was amidst all of the shacks.
One of the most memorable moments that evening included a random visitor at my door. I had just laid down to go to sleep and heard someone trying to get a key in the lock in my door. My thoughts at the moment were "I'm in Ethiopia, I don't know the language, the other Americans are somewhere in the 13 story hotel, SCREAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.." Thankfully, the person just had the wrong room. And all turned out well.
The pictures you will see are looking down from my balcony.
